Biosolids contain many nutrients which condition the soil to improve crop yield. They can be spread at little or no cost to the landowner, providing an attractive alternative to costly commercial fertilizers. As an added benefit, Biosolids are slow release, thus often requiring applicaton only once a year.
However Biosolids can vary greatly from one source to another, depending on the process used. Some are as high as 15% nitrogen, while others may be as low as 1% nitrogen.
Some products are a great alternative to Dolomite or Lime, and can significantly raise PH. Other nutrient content can vary greatly from one generator to another as well.
Another consideration is to what classification the generator has processed the material. Class B products require permitting, and have some restrictions, while Class AA products have few restrictions.
